Leak or Evaporation

To determine whether water loss in your pool is due to evaporation or a leak, performing a bucket test can be very helpful. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide:

1. Make sure any AutoFill system is turned off.             2. Fill a large bucket with your pool water to about an inch from the top of the bucket and place the filled bucket on the top step of the pool.                        3. Mark both levels of water with a piece of tape; making sure there is no space between the tape and water level. Leave the bucket in place for 24 hours with the pool running as normal, but without using the pool during this time.

4. After 24 hours, compare the water levels. If both levels are similar, evaporation is likely the cause. If the pool has lost more water than the bucket, you may have a leak and it's time to call LEAK FINDERS.  This test can be performed in any weather conditions and will help you avoid unnecessary service calls and expenses!
